Cloud computing is touted as the most innovative development in technology in decades. Cloud computing can offer an improved way to store and deliver data that is designed to be better, faster, and cheaper than other alternatives. Although the technology is new, the concept behind it has been around for quite some time, but most business owners may be in the dark on how cloud computing can meet business related needs. Here, are a few questions and answers that should help shed more light on the subject.

What is Cloud Computing?
Cloud computing is a model of service delivery designed to enable on-demand network access to shared computing resources. Essentially, cloud computing facilitates access to resources among multiple computers and applications. These resources can be easily distributed and released. In layman’s terms, this would translate to accessing the Internet anytime and anywhere and being able to use whatever data and applications are available.
Consumers still haven’t grasped the concept yet, and there’s been loads of hype levied at them, but cloud computing is allowing access to data and software stored in a remote location. This means consumers can access all these resources from any Internet connection available.

How Does Cloud Computing Work?
As stated previously, cloud computing is the process of delivering hosted services over an Internet connection. The service end is the place where the data is stored, and the user end is the company or individual that accesses the data.
Cloud service providers host the data and software on their servers. Once a user turns on a computer and connects to the servers, all the user has to do is click a desired application and they can instantly access to their software or services.

Who Uses Cloud Computing?
Surprisingly, most people are already using cloud services. Most consumers and businesses connect to the cloud on a daily basis, whether they are aware of that fact, or not. Anyone who uses email, social networks, online photo storage, or company hardware/software is probably using the cloud. Cloud computing is used frequently to access tax or financial information, and it’s also used when backing up and storing files on a computer.
Who Coined the Term Cloud Computing?
The concept behind cloud computing dates back to the 1960s, and the phrase originates from the cloud symbol that frequently appears on flow charts and diagrams as a symbol for the Internet. The phrase was first publicly used in 2006 at a search engine conference in San Jose, California, when Eric Schmidt, Google’s CEO described an approach to data storage as “cloud computing”.

Is Cloud Computing Safe?
Safety has been a primary concern recently as online breaches with Sony’s PlayStation Network have been forefront in the headlines. Additionally, hackers successfully exploited Amazon’s Elastic Computer Cloud to access information with a phony account.
Experts assert that by using cloud computing, company’s open doors to data and provide attractive targets for attacks. Of course, due diligence must be performed by company’s providing cloud services because these companies hold the key to data from multiple companies that thieves may be salivating over.
Businesses buying into cloud computing should always make plans for worse case scenarios. This also should include legal provisions for liability.

A Brighter Future is On the Horizon
If recent calculations pan out, the marketplace for cloud computing should grow to an estimated $150 billion in 2013. IBM is currently investing millions of dollars in cloud computing services, and the company predicts that these investments should generate about $7 billion in revenue by 2015, if not more. There is no doubt that many key players perceive cloud computing to be the next best technological development.
As Internet speeds continue to increase, cloud service offerings are expected to grow, as well. Computer firms are gearing up to meet the demand.
Mobile services are fast becoming the frontier for cloud services, despite the fact that user experience for mobile devices hasn’t panned out. This should evolve as service capabilities expand and devices become more adept at handling more online tasks.

Using keyboard shortcuts is the easiest way to save you time and effort when you need to access commonly used symbols or processes. Indeed, navigating through shortcuts will keep your internet browsing fast and sharp.

You can use shortcuts to inserts symbols instead of spending hours searching the internet for them and subsequently continuously copying and pasting them throughout your work. Some of the most used symbols in business are available in a three key combo. Pressing and holding Ctrl and Alt and adding a letter to the combination will serve up the symbol. If you add C, you’ll deliver a ©. R, returns ®. T displays ™. E shows € and the L creates a numbered list 1) 2).

There’s a great little time saver if you’re working on many documents, across different programs at the same time. Instead of having to take your hands off the keyboard and away from your typing, you should try holding Alt and pressing Tab to very quickly flick between all the open windows.

That might also help you out if the boss is coming over and you’ve been pricing up the holiday instead of writing up their sales from the last week. However, if you’ve got nothing work related on the screen, you could be in more trouble. That is until you quickly press the Window key and hit D. All your windows will minimise and you’ll be left with a completely empty desktop.

hide everything and display the desktop

Win D

The last three shortcuts that you should know will help you out on the internet. They’ll allow you to quickly open and close your tabs. To open a new blank tab, simply hold Ctrl and press T. If you’ve just closed a tab by mistake, you can quickly reopen it without going through your history by holding Ctrl and Shift, then pressing T. The last shortcut is the emergency go to – if you’re busy buying your girlfriend’s birthday present and she walks over – hold Ctrl and press W. That will close down all of the tabs and the whole window.

If you’re like us, you share files from time to time with colleagues, friends, family and associates. Doing so in person isn’t hard at all, but doing a safe file share online can be tricky to some people. Of course, if you have a word document or one or two picture files, you can always fire such a file away as an email attachment, But what happens when that file is larger than 25MB? Most email clients do not allow you to attach files bigger than 10 or 20 megabytes. In such a case you may need to use a file sharing service to transfer the file.

If the file is extremely large, as in close to 1GB, you can use rapidshare.com. With www.rapidshare.com, you can upload a file of up to 1GB, and send the link to download the file within an email. While safe, this is not the safest way to share a file so we would not suggest you to use this method to share confidential files.

If what you are sharing is confidential, you can try www.box.com which offers government level encryption of data. www.box.com has many options but one of them allows you to upload files to a specific folder on your Box account and share the folder with multiple email addresses. This is a great way to share one or multiple files with a group of persons.
www.dropbox.com, www.skydrive.com and drive.google.com all offer cloud storage options that are very secure. However, if you are a complete security freak, you may like our next option.

If you have to share the secrets for the next big thing or some other top secret as the Pepsi, Coco Cola or KFC recipe, then you can encrypt the data and share the encrypted file with whoever you deem. In order to do this, you will need to use an encrypting program to do this. There are many programs that do this but our favorite is TruCrypt.
With TruCrypt, you can encrypt a file or a bunch of files with almost any level encryption you want and from there you can share the encrypted container with whomever you want. Should the encrypted container fall into the wrong hands, they would not be able to open the files because they need the password.

Be careful though because if you lose the password or the other person does not have it, there is no way for you to recover anything from the encrypted container. Best thing about TruCrypt is that it is 100% free and there is no limit to what you can encrypt.
Conclusion
When sharing files, always remember that there will always be a possibility of that information falling in the wrong hands so make sure that you count the possible risks before you share such a file online. If you are paranoid, do it in person or mail it. Also, remember that your files are only protected by the strength of your password. So use a strong password to secure your files.

Many components are involved in providing broadband services, such as duration of the contract, broadband speeds, price, and ancillary services bundled along with Internet access. Often the only factor that a new customer will think about is the speed of connectivity, or the monthly rate charged for a package. But a conscious analysis and comparison of all relevant issues will ensure that you are happy with the choice you finally make.

Why Download Allowance Matters

Most prospective buyers will visit a resource that compares broadband service packages offered by various providers, and then pick the one that offers the fastest speed at lowest price. However, this can end up becoming a huge mistake if you fail to consider the download allowance.

A download allowance is the maximum permitted allocation of bandwidth for an account over a certain period of time. Every time you load a website, or download a file, or transfer information over your broadband connection, you are consuming bandwidth. The data that you download is measured in megabits, and your download allowance is represented in terms of the cumulative total of the data that you transfer over a month.

The actual download allowance will vary by provider and by package. More expensive packages will let you download more data, while cheaper packages set strict restrictions on how much bandwidth you can use in a month. Software that tracks your file transfers will keep track of your downloads.

Problems With Download Allowances

Whenever you approach the limit set by your package, your connection will either automatically be throttled down or temporarily terminated, so that you cannot download much more data. Some ISPs will not slow down or stop your account, but will charge you for the additional data that you transfer, over and above your preset download allowance limits. Usually these charges are steep, and you may well end up paying twice or thrice your monthly rate for the over-usage alone.

Depending upon the level of your Internet usage, there are often packages tailored to your specific requirements. Modest users of email and regular Web browsing can manage with relatively small download allowances of 10 GB or less. If you frequently download music, movies, or online games, then you may exceed this limit and need a package with a higher download allowance.

As an indicative reference to help you estimate your potential bandwidth usage, a text email transfers 20 Kb of data, a webpage around 50 Kb, a song or three minute video clip about 3 Mb, and a full-length movie nearly 400 Mb. These figures are only approximate estimates, and you’ll have to actually monitor your broadband use over a period of time to come up with a more accurate assessment.

Unlimited Download Allowance

Many broadband service providers advertise “unlimited downloads”. But there are always limits, and using too much of the provider’s available bandwidth will subject you to a fair usage policy, by which your connection will be restricted in order that other users on the network are not disadvantaged by your activity. If your high volume data transfers continue, you may even receive a letter of warning from your ISP, or have your account locked for a while during busy periods of the network.

Download allowances are much smaller with mobile broadband connections. This is because mobile broadband is a relatively newer industry and high speeds are not yet widely available. No matter what type of broadband service you register for, be sure to carefully study the fine print and see what restrictions you have regarding your download allowance. This will help you find the best broadband service and plan for your needs.

Chances are you have found an image online and have wondered where that particular image originated from or which famous person is in the image. Ever since the Internet was born, you could join some forum and post said image in hopes that some random person may be able to identify it. But what if no one can identify the image, you’re left out in the cold. Well not anymore; thanks to reverse image search, you will hardly be left in the dark about a pictures origin again.

So what exactly is reverse image search? Instead of using keywords to find images, you use an image to find either similar images or internet pages that contain that image or a similar image which generally can lead you to whatever information you are looking for.
Generally, whatever reverse image search you use, it will require you to upload the image and then it will search against a database for images related to that specific image. There are multiple reverse image search websites available and we will cover a couple below.

TinEye
This reverse image search service is one of the simplest to use. It requires you to install a plugin for your browser (Opera, Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Safari are all supported). Once the plugin is installed, you can use reverse image search right from your browser by right clicking on any non-flash image and then choosing the “Search Image on TinEye” option.

Idée
From the creators of TinEye, Idée provides more robust search features that may be suitable for professionals such as those trying to monitor copyrighted images or trying to trace an image to the original owner. The service is paid and as such is not perfect for hobbyists, but is the best reverse image search option for any professional.

Google
Many people may not recognize it, but Google launched a reverse image search service back in 2011. The service requires you to upload an image to Google’s server which is then searched across millions of webpages. It is not the most accurate but in our time of using it, there has only been a few times when we were not able to identify an image using Google’s service.

In order to use it, you need to go to images.google.com and drag the image you would like to search from a folder on your computer into the search field. Alternately, you can choose the browse option which will allow you to browse to the image’s folder location and upload it from there.

Conclusion
We’ve personally found reverse image search to be extremely valuable, from trying to find a higher resolution version of an awesome photo, to identifying some unnamed hot girl in a random photo to pinpointing the exact location of beautiful scenery, reverse image search is a life saver and once you start to use it, you too will get hooked. Just keep in mind that tracking down information on an image may take a bit longer than you thought.

Chances are you have had a PC that refused to connect to the Internet or you could reach other services on your local network, such as a network drive, but you couldn’t get to a specific webpage or internet based service. You’re not alone and if you don’t know how to troubleshoot such network connectivity issues, fear not, we will help you.

Whenever you troubleshoot a problem, you want to start from the most likely/possible issue and then move up from there. In this case cords and power switches. If you cannot get on the Internet, check to see if you your computer is connected to your router. If you’re operating wirelessly, check to see if you are connected by checking your network connections in the taskbar. If those are not the issue, check to see the router is on and that it is connected to the Internet (usually indicated by a green globe).

If that does not fix the issue, power cycle your devices. You should do this by unplugging your DSL/Cable Modem, Router and restarting your computer. Wait about 30 seconds before connecting your DSL/Cable modem first and wait for all the blinking lights to become solid. Take notice of the Internet light and make sure that it is getting a connection from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Once that is done, plug your router in and wait for all the lights to become solid especially the Internet connectivity light. Turn your computer on, clear your cache (Internet Options > Delete > Check the “Temporary internet files and website files” > Click “Delete”) and try to go to any web page. Ten to one chances this will fix your problem.

If this does not work, open a command prompt by going to the command line (Run > cmd) and typing “ipconfig /all” without the quotation marks and clicking enter. If your IP address is begins with 169.254.x.x your computer does not have a valid IP address and you need to get a new one from your router. To do that you type “ipconfig /release” (without the quotation marks), hit enter and once the IP address has been flushed, type “ipconfig /renew” (without quotation marks) to get a new IP address from your router.

If you are connected wirelessly and you still cannot get an internet connection, take an Ethernet cord, plug directly into your router and check if you get a connection. If this fixes the problem, then you have a problem with your wireless settings and those need to be fixed (beyond the scope of this article). If that still does not fix the issue, skip the router and plug directly into your DSL/Cable modem. If this fixes the issue then there is configuration problem or a defective router. If it does not, then there is either an issue with your DLS/Cable modem or ISP which in that case you would need to call your ISP to fix the issue.

Selecting the ideal broadband service for your home has become a challenging task. There are several factors to keep in mind while making your choice. This simple guide highlights the important issues to consider before you pick a service provider for home broadband.

Choosing a broadband service for home use is no longer a simple matter of calling up the only company in your area and accepting the first plan that fits your budget. There are several factors that go into the decision, and with the diversity of choices available, this can be quite a challenging process.

Upload And Download Speeds

Broadband Internet connection speeds are measured in Megabytes/sec or Mbps. It represents how fast data is moved to and from your computer. Broadband Internet connection speeds are 10 to 1000 times faster than dial-up connections. In an ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscribe) connection, there is a difference between upload and download speeds.

Download speeds are several times faster than for uploads. Since most broadband users are passive consumers who use their connection only to browse the Web, listen to songs, or receive homework assignments through email, the higher download speed makes for a pleasant user experience.

Business users log on to the Internet for video conferencing, or share large data files and software with their clients. Some others use broadband for online interactive learning or dynamic gaming. For these heavy users, slow upload speeds of ADSL connections can be frustrating. Such dynamic Web users should look for connections that allow equally fast upload and download speeds.

Are High Speed Connections Important?

If you are interested in high bandwidth activities, then check broadband speed guides which list the minimum download speeds needed for a good user experience for each type of activity. You should then search for broadband services that provide such speeds. For most other users, all that’s needed is a basic ADSL connection which offers reliable service.

Very high speed connections are great for high definition video streaming or graphic intensive applications and online gaming. For all other activities, high speed connections of 10 Mbps or more will not significantly improve the user experience.

If your household consists of several members using the Internet at the same time from multiple devices, then higher speed connections will meet everyone’s demands and deliver a pleasant browsing experience. There are online guides which help you to rate your bandwidth needs and grade them as basic, medium or heavy usage.

How Latency Affects Certain Types Of Web Activities?

Another factor that will impact your use of broadband is latency. Latency can be described as a time lag or delay in the way packets of data travel back and forth over the wires. If latency is high, some real time applications like video conferencing, online phone calls, and interactive gaming will suffer.

Bandwidth Limits

Not all data plans allow unlimited bandwidth. Many providers limit the amount of data you can download or upload per month. This depends on the data plan you choose. If you have a data plan of 250 GB limit per month, you can download around 50 HD movies. Broadband service providers often penalize users who exceed their bandwidth limits. So if you’re a heavy user, opt for a higher data plan.

How To Find Broadband Services In Your Area?

There are online tools which allow you to research and compare the different broadband service providers in your postal code. Urban users can choose from cable broadband, ADSL broadband or wireless broadband connections.

Value For Money

Compare and find plans that provide value for money by way of high speed and reasonable bandwidth allowances at an affordable price. Higher speed connections are expensive, so see if you really need them.

If you switch plans or providers midway through your contract, you might have to pay a sizable cancellation fee. So read the terms and conditions carefully. Some plans may provide free installation, a free modem, and throw in other bonuses, but will lock you into long term contracts with higher monthly charges. Carefully weigh the pros and cons of each plan before picking the one which best fits your needs.

Perfect Uninstaller is considered by many as the ultimate solution when it comes to uninstalling programs. Those who are working with Windows are fully aware of the fact that the default program uninstaller designed for Windows is incapable of meeting all their requirements. It should be noted that while the uninstaller is good, there are certain cases when it does not work in uninstalling specific programs such as browser toolbars and anti-virus software. This might result to leaving configuration files and directories behind, thereby causing your PC to slow down.

Using Perfect Uninstaller will prevent these things from happening. This program works in thoroughly and easily uninstalling all unwanted programs from your computer. In comparison to other uninstallers, this program is effective in directly uninstalling programs and software from the hard drive’s folders. This is powerful enough if you wish to get rid of corrupted programs that tend to stay even if you use the utility designed to add and remove programs in the control panel. The good thing about Perfect Uninstaller is that you can remove all the unwanted files and programs while ensuring that your PC is protected against crashing. Note that once it performs the un-installation process, the program can be expected to scan your registry and drives completely. This offers enough protection against crashing due to corrupted errors in the registry, thereby enhancing your computer’s speed and performance.

There are numerous reasons why Perfect Uninstaller is now highly recommended to PC users. One of these is that it is easy to use and install. It is introduced in a small package (1.7 megabytes) and can be quickly and conveniently installed in all versions of Windows. After installing the program, you can start to access a menu which lists all the installed programs and software in your PC. You are also given 3 basic options when it comes to uninstalling them. These options are the regular uninstall, the force uninstall and the special uninstall. You can also expect to enjoy the following benefits from this program:

• Forcibly removes software and programs especially the hidden and corrupted ones that tend to remain no matter what you do
• Improves the performance of your PC by removing corrupted errors
• Offers numerous ways in viewing installed apps and programs
• User friendly interface
• Provides relevant details about all the applications currently installed in your PC

Considering the powerful nature of Perfect Uninstaller and its effectiveness in removing all unwanted and harmful programs, applications, files and software from your PC, it is no longer surprising why it is strongly recommended for all computer users.

Storing data in the cloud has become the latest trend in Internet data storage. For people who are not web-savvy, the idea is confusing and interesting. This article explains just what cloud storage is and how users can benefit from its use.

Cloud storage has become a popular data storage trend in the last couple of years. Being able to store virtual data in a place that is accessible from anywhere gives users greater freedom to work with their data. Here is how users benefit from storing their data in the cloud.

Cloud storage has several definitions depending on the user. Essentially it is a mode of storing data on the internet in virtualized storage lockers hosted by third parties. The third parties maintain data centers and servers that make stored data available through the internet. Data storage space is leased or sold to users. Users can then access their data via a website on any computer or mobile device. Cloud storage works a lot like leasing a storage unit. Users pay to lease the space and store their data, have it protected, and can access data whenever they might need it.

Storing large amounts of data on the cloud is not a new concept. In fact, many popular websites and web e-mail providers or prime examples of cloud storage at work. Most web-based services that require users to log in with a unique username and password are an example of cloud storage. The information users provide about themselves are stored on the company’s server. Users then access their information whenever they log in. Many cloud storage services offer a free plan to start, with a limited data amount, and the option to purchase more space as a user’s data collection grows.

Cloud storage has many advantages over data stored locally on a computer’s hard drive or a jump drive. Jump drives can easily get damaged, lost or stolen, resulting in the loss of data. Mechanical computer failures can render a device useless, and retrieving data on the hard drive, (if it has not been erased) is a difficult process. Data stored on the cloud is accessible to users from anywhere and any web-connected device. Their private data is protected, accessible only to authorized persons. Storing data on the cloud gives users the peace of mind that their data will be there when they need it.

Despite the many advantages of cloud storage, wary users still worry about the protection of their data and the reliability of a particular service. There are a few precautions that users looking to store sensitive information in the cloud should keep in mind. Choose a service that requires user authentication, such as a username and password, and encrypts data to protect against hacking attempts. Investigate potential storage options and determine if they are reliable or prone to failure. Finding a cloud storage service that is trustworthy as well as secure will allow users to relax in the comfort of knowing their data is safe.

With cloud storage, users can rest assured their data is safe and secure. Information can be organized and accessed from any place with internet connection, and users don’t have to carry their data physically, cutting down on clutter and confusion. The cloud makes stored data easily accessible, giving users ultimate control of their data collection for any use.

The registry designed for Windows serves as a database repository containing all the details related to a PC’s configuration. This means that the act of regularly uninstalling and installing software and programs in your computer might cause your registry to become messy. This leads to decreased PC performance that might result to crashes. It should be noted that the size of your Windows registry maintains its growth. If it becomes filled with details, then there is a great tendency for it to become unstable and lose the desirable performance of your computer. This is the main reason why every computer user is advised to invest in a high quality and fully functional registry cleaner.

In your search for the most effective registry cleaner, you will want to know that the Regeasycleaner from CheeseSoft Ltd is perfect for you. It utilizes high-performance and powerful detection algorithm which is capable of quickly identifying invalid and missing references in your registry. The good thing about this registry cleaner is that it works faster because a few simple and easy steps are only required to be followed when scanning your registry for obsolete and invalid entries. Regeasycleaner is also capable of providing a list of detected registry errors that may harm your computer. This will enable you to either select a few items that you plan to remove or automatically repair all the entries in the list. What makes this cleaner even more impressive is that it can offer a backup mechanism for all your repaired files. This gives you the chance to conveniently recover any required changes.

Regeasycleaner also allows you to take full advantage of its file recovery feature. This is known as a powerful toolkit which is effective in detecting deleted files without changing them. This will enable you to accurately recover them anytime. Another great feature in this registry cleaner is the file joiner and splitter toolkit which works by splitting up huge files such as songs, backups, movies, videos, archived document files, multimedia and zip archives into smaller chunks. This specific feature is a huge help in shaping up pieces and combining them so the original files can be brought back.

Regeasycleaner is also beneficial because of its ability to perform auto and custom scans and manual cleanup. The automatic scan is a huge help in scanning the registry of different types of errors and works suitably for non-technical PC users. The custom scan is also powerful enough that it allows you to customize the scanning of your registry by choosing the kind of errors that you want to detect including invalid startup entries and missing fonts. The manual cleanup is done after the scanning is successfully completed.
