With Google Now, you can do many things by simply stating a particular voice command. You can use it to ask questions and get real-time answers. You can also use it to help you navigate through the streets or set up a countdown timer or alarm. It can also perform certain actions in response to your requests like sending an email or making a call. In short, it’s a useful feature that you can truly rely on.
However, having an intelligent personal assistant could sometimes hinder you from connecting with real people. Furthermore, it can add up to your device’s power consumption so you might as well consider learning how to manually turn it off. How? Just read the steps below.
To disable Google Now on Android, go to your app drawer and then open the “Google Search” app.
Go to its “Settings” by pressing the menu button.
You’ll then see a list of options. Apparently, the first option is “Google Now” so you simply need to switch it off.
Once disabled, you will no longer be able to use your device’s intelligent personal assistant to carry out specific commands but you can still use Google Search to perform specific search queries. Apart from this, your device will also stop displaying your hover cards for weather, maps, events, etc.
On the other hand, if you wish to switch it back on, just swipe up from your home button and in the screen that appears, just touch or select “Yes, I’m in”. Of course, you can also take the usual route by repeating the steps above but instead of switching it off; you just need to switch it on. It’s as easy as that.
